Vincent van Gogh Quotes
I got lost in a bunch of quotation sites today, so I picked out some of my favorite Van Gogh quotes. Whenever I read a book I always underline (if I own the book) or write down (if I borrowed the book) quotations that interest me. They're always great for inspiration when things get tough in the studio.

The Vincent Van Gogh letters play a very large part in the fame of Van Gogh. Imagine if we knew nothing about the life of him and all his letters were lost!
Would we think as highly of the poor, crazy, passionate artist we know of today?
Sure his paintings are great, but we also like him because we feel we know him or we can relate to his struggle.
That's my 2 cents anyway. Your Van Gogh quotes just got me thinking.

And Anon, I agree that knowing a lot about Van Gogh's life makes him more interesting. But yeah, his painting would probably stand by themselves, without the myths and stories about Vincent's struggles.

Vincent is one of my favorite painters (besides Monet)... Thanks for sharing these quotes! I'm a big quote person myself.
