George Bush Paintings

george bush on the leno show

President George W. Bush was recently on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno to talk about the opening of the Bush library and to give the talkshow host a portrait painting. Apart from finding it funny that George W. Bush would open a library named after himself, I found him to be quite charming.. just as many mass killers are. Here’s some funny comments from the last Bush paintings post I made..Continue Reading

Brett Whiteley Exhibition in Newcastle

brett whiteley exhibition

I wasn’t planning to look at any art today but I found myself in Newcastle with nothing to do. The thing I drove there for was cancelled, so rather than turning around and driving back home I popped in to see the Brett Whiteley exhibition at the Newcastle Art Gallery: Whiteley on Water. Gold Coast Holiday

gold coast holiday

I went missing last week. Found myself in a car, driving north for about 9 hours, and then I just bummed around for a week, doing nothing in particular. I didn’t see any art exhibitions as the Gold Coast in Queensland is more about sun, surf and sand. Nature put on an amazing show each day though as there was a thunderstorm pretty much every day I was there. Being on the 66th floor meant I had a front row seat to the storms.Continue Reading

Historically significant George Stubbs paintings to stay in the UK. A retarded rat looking thing on two legs that’s supposed to be a kangaroo and a fox looking animal that’s supposed to be a dingo will no longer make their way to Australian shores after a campaign backed by British documentary maker David Attenborough saw the artworks slapped with an export ban. David Hockney in San Francisco

david hockney self portrait

For me, David Hockney is one of them artists that creates just as many great paintings as he does terrible paintings. So I can’t say I love the artist, I have to say that I love his good works.. and bad works, not so much. Anyway, the artist is now showing at the de Young Museum in San Francisco, California through to the 20th of January. Continue Reading

Art Dolls by Junker Jane

handmade art dolls of junker jane

I know I’m a guy and I’m not supposed to like dolls, but these handmade art dolls are much cooler and realer than the fake plastic abominations that are sold to kids today. Junker Jane (Catherine Zacchino) out of┬áPortland Oregon creates these awesome little one of a kind art dolls or soft sculptures and sells them on Etsy for very reasonable prices. I would much rather my kid (if I had one) being attached to a little work of art with character than to a soulless piece of plastic made in China.Continue Reading

Remember pepper spray pig John Pike who casually sprayed peaceful protestors of the occupy movement like they were cockroaches? He has been awarded $38,000 in worker’s compensation. The poor dear has been suffering from depression and anxiety. It’s tough doing the dirty work of a psychopathic regime that only answers to banks and big business.. boo hoo.Continue Reading
