Andy Warhol Dollar Signs

Andy Warhol would be loving the recent art auction action around his art. He seemed to enjoy making money as much as he enjoyed making art, so to see his dollar sign works going for double and quadruple their auction estimates would give the man great pleasure.
Rather than one of his “Dollar Sign” selling for an estimated $1.1 million, it sold for $4.5 million.

  • Death means a lot of money, honey. Death can really make you look like a star.

  • A lady friend of mine asked me, “Well, what do you love most?” That’s how I started painting money.

  1. I’d like to quote the brilliant journalist H.L. Mencken in response to the Andy Warhol Blog…

Mencken said, ” You’ll never go broke under-estimating the taste of the American public.”

Many people have become rich this way!
    Cheers!

    wow thats amazing!!!

  3. Warhol was more interested in hanging around celebrities, many of whom had money. Whether he liked money or not, he was still a great social artist, whose art is worth more after his death.
