Steven Campbell Dies - Last week the Scottish artist Steven
Campbell died at just 54 years of age. After suffering from a ruptured
appendix he developed septicaemia. The artist was in intensive care
for about a month before passing away on the 15th of August, 2007.

Artist Jorg Immendorff Dies at 61 - The German expressionist
artist Jörg Immendorff passed away on Monday at the age of 61.
The artist struggled with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis which forced
him to change painting hands (from left to right) and eventually forced
him to stop painting in 2006.

Conceptual Artist Sol LeWitt Dies at 78 - The American conceptional
artist Sol LeWitt recently passed away at the age of 78. The artist
died after a long struggle with cancer.

Collector Heinz Berggruen Dies at 93 - The Jewish German art
collector Heinz Berggruen has died on the 23rd of February at the
age of 93. Berggruen collected major works by Vincent van Gogh, Paul
Cezanne, Henri Matisse, Alberto Giacometti, and Pablo Picasso.

Tretchikoff Dies at 92 - The artist that painted the best
selling art print of all time recently passed away. I hadn't noticed
it until a reader (Irv) pointed out an article in the New York Times.

Collector Kenneth Thomson - Kenneth Roy Thomson was Canada's
richest man and a very active art collector. The former chairman of
Thomson Corp. apparently died of a heart attack in his office on Monday
the 12th.

Appel Dies at 85 - The Dutch painter and sculptor Karel Appel
passed away at the age of 85 on the 3rd of this month.

Picasso Dies - On the 8th of April, 1973 the Spanish artist
Pablo Picasso passed away. It was interesting reading the article
that the BBC wrote at the time. It kind of makes Picasso more of a
man and less of a myth, knowing that the artist lived a regular life
too.

Hart Dies at 77 - The Australian artist Pro Hart passed away
today at the age of 77. Although Hart is a household name in Australia,
he was never really accepted in the art world, with very few art museums
or important art collections having his work on the walls. The artist
became famous throughout Australia after a carpet cleaning television
advertisement where he created works of art on the carpet with food.

Parks Dies at 93 - The photographer and film maker Gordon
Parks has died this week at the age of 93. Parks worked as a photographer
for Life magazine between 1948-68, focusing on the struggles of black
Americans. He used the camera as a tool to make others aware of the
poverty and racism in America.

Caulfield Dies at 69 - The British contemporary/pop artist
Patrick Caulfield has died at the age of 69. The melancholy painter
died after a struggle with cancer.

Wesselmann dies at 73 - Pop icon Tom Wesselmann has passed
away at the age of 73. Wesselmann died from complications after recent
heart surgery.

Paschke Dies - The American artist has died in his home at
the age of 65. Ed Paschke gained recognition in the 60s when he was
working with a group of artists known as the "Imagists"
that borrowed heavily from Pop art.

Guitarist dies at 55 - Johnny Ramone, the guitarist with the
eponymous punk group The Ramones, died at his home in Los Angeles
on Wednesday following a five-year battle with prostate cancer. He
was 55.
