  • Three Years Old Today - Art News Blog is three years old today! If internet years are anything like dog years, ANB must be 21 years old (3x7).
  • Artful Blogging Magazine - Stampington has released a new quarterly magazine called "Artful Blogging". It's a magazine that focuses solely on artists publishing creative blogs and online journals.
  • Haiku for You - Danny de Zayas and his fiancee have started a collaborative internet art project called Haiku for You.
  • ANB in the Sydney Morning Herald - Art News Blog was mentioned in the Sydney Morning Herald on Monday. I must admit that I still feel uncomfortable blowing my own horn and mentioning such things, but I'm getting over it.. slowly.
  • Comments on Art News Blog - It may look like I don't like people commenting on Art News Blog as I seem to have a whine about them from time to time, but I really do enjoy reading most of them (the comments about viagra and personal finance don't do much for me). The comments that disagree with my opinion are even welcome (even though they may be wrong! ;-)
  • Link Love for Art Blogs - Here's a list of some art blogs and artist resources that I have visited recently. I put more time into an earlier post that I was writing, until my computer froze and I lost everything! So this list will be much shorter..
  • Search Terms at Art News Blog - Something I enjoy checking on the statistics page for Art News Blog is the search terms that people use to find the site. They're not the top search terms.. but they do make me wonder.
  • The Year that was at Art News Blog 2006 - Wow, that year was a fast one. I'm now convinced that as we get older, time speeds up. I remember back in school, many years ago, the days used to take forever. I used to almost beg time to speed up so I could get home and do whatever it was that I did as a kid. Now I'm wishing it would slow down!
  • Art News Blog Comments - One of the great things about blogs is that you can share your own opinions on the posts. They add so much more depth to any blog, especially Art News Blog. But the beauty of allowing anyone to comment also opens the door to people that are out to scam and take advantage of blogs.
  • Art Blogs of the Moment - Almost every man and his dog now have a blog, so I thought I would share a few. A lot of them come and go, as that just seems to be the nature of blogs, but there's also a lot of blogs that just keep going.
  • The Painting Process and the Still Life - Karl Zipser has added a new section to his art blog called Follow the Painting, where he and the artist Hanneke van Oosterhout go through the different stages of creating a painting.
  • Helping Artists and Replying to Emails - Hazel Dooney has a new artist blog up and has been thinking about what it is that offends her about getting requests from artists that want help selling their own work.
  • My Favorite Artists - It's hard to narrow it down to just a set list of artists as I have been influenced by so many artists over the years. I also fall in and out of love with particular artists, but a certain few always remain close to me.
  • ArtNewsBlog in the Artists's Magazine - Art News Blog was lucky enough to get a mention on the "TechnoByte" page in the Artist's Magazine, where three art blogs were profiled.
  • Genius Artists - Mushtaq Bhat of Germany was moved enough by the comments on the Self Absorbed Geniuses post to start his own blog at the age of 54. The post was about the Rebels and Matyrs exhibition at the National Gallery in London, and how artists are often self absorbed and create their own myths.
  • Post Secret and Supporting Artists - I could relate to this postcard over at the Post Secret blog. Not because I've ever been in a band or lost a lover because of being an artist, but it is an issue that comes up from time to time.
  • Dan Bodner Paintings from Photographs - After the discussion on painting from photographs, Karl Zipser has gone out and almost been converted into a photograph using artist ;-)
  • Being an Artist - Karl Zipser has started a new blog on all things art and has started a series of posts on being an artist. He has started with two steps so far..
  • Post Secret Blog - The man behind the Post Secret website, Frank Warren talked to USA Today about the success of his blog. It says he has had nearly 30,000 postcard secrets sent to him in the post, with hundreds of new ones being sent each week.
  • Australian Blogs Directory - AustralianBlogs.com.au is a new weblog directory for Australian bloggers. There's more Australians blogging than I thought actually. It's free to add your blog too. Here's some other blogs I've found interesting lately (not particularly Australian or art related.)
  • Artist Blogs - To start a blog, or not to start a blog? That was the question that the artist Robert Genn recently spoke about in his latest Painter's Keys newsletter. He quoted George Bernard Shaw.. "When you know the artist you think less of the art."
  • Art Blog Search Terms - I sometimes look through the Art News Blog website statistics to see what words people are using to find the site. Some search terms make sense, like "art news" or "art blog", etc. But some search terms that people use to land at this art blog make me scratch my head.
  • Art News Blog Questions - I was asked some questions about artnewsblog.com recently. It was for an art magazine, but their email was sent to my Yahoo mail, which I rarely check. So I'm probably too late to be mentioned in their story, but questions are good to work out why you do what you do. So, here they are..
  • Ren and Stimpy Cartoonist - The cartoonist John Kricfalusi has started a blog recently. He's the cartoonist of Ren & Stimpy fame. It's still early days for his site, but it's already worth taking a look at.
  • Post a Secret - Came across a fascinating site that combines art and the voyeur that is in all of us. It's kind of like reading through someone's diary or sitting in a confession box.
  • Blogger being Sued - The risks of having a blog can be seen over at seobook.com, where the blogger Aaron Wall is being sued for comments left on his seobook blog.
  • Forbes Art Blogs - Forbes business magazine has reviewed some of the best blogs of the web for 2005, including some of the best art blogs on the web. And although Artnewsblog.com isnt a "Forbes Favorite" or a "Forbes Best of The Web pick", it did get a mention, and a small review.
  • Art News Blog of Note - ArtNewsBlog is the "Blog of Note" for September27. Big warm welcome to everyone coming here for the first time. Also, thanks to everyone posting comments, they make the news stories so much more interesting.
