- Al
Pacino to Play Salvador Dali - It has been reported that Al
Pacino will play the role of Salvador Dali in an upcoming film called
"Dali & I: The Surreal Story". Andrew Niccol will direct
the Dali movie and filming is set to start in June this year.
- Alberto
Giacometti Movie - This news is three years late, but it's
better late than never. I saw a link to the Eternal Gaze movie over
at Keith's blog. It's an animation of one of my favorite artists,
Alberto Giacometti.
- Modigliani
Movie - I recently watched the Modigliani movie, thanks to
fellow artist Leith. I think it's generally a challenging thing for
a movie maker to create a film about an artist that is interesting,
believable, and not too Hollywood-ized.
- Wallace
and Gromit Studio Fire - The studio home of Wallace and Gromit
was burnt to the ground this week. The Aardman Animation studio in
Britain was engulfed by fire, losing many sets, plasticine figures
and sketches from the popular Wallace and Gromit movies.
- Marla
Olmstead on 60 Minutes - I did not see the episode on 60 minutes
recently, but it's interesting to see what people have to say about
it. See the two previous posts on Art News Blog and the comments that
people have had.
- Relative
of Vincent van Gogh Killed - I've heard of people being verbally
abused or even imprisoned for their art, but being killed for your
art is a little extreme. Theo van Gogh (no, not Vincent's brother)
caused outrage in the Dutch Muslim community when he made a controversial
11 minute film about a Muslim woman that was abused in an arranged
marriage.
- Klimt
Movie - Another film based on the life of an artist being
made. A Gustav Klimt film is being made with John Malkovich playing
the role of Gustav Klimt.
