Painting Studio of Australian Artist Angony

artist studios

I started posting artist studios about 5 years but then abandoned the blog. Seeing the painting studio of Australian artist Angony posted on his facebook page just recently made me think I should start posting them again. His workspace really does have a lot of character. I love how studios say so much about the person working in them. Some are clean and surgical, others messy and comfortable, just as their artists are. And a studio is never really complete unless it has a resident cat or dog. Angony’s studio assistant is the French bulldog Leon ;-) Continue Reading

Banksy Retrospective – Unauthorized of Course

banksy unauthorised retrospective

Banksy The Unauthorised Retrospective in London opens today at Sotheby’s S|2 gallery. Steve Lazarides, Banksy’s agent up until 2008 has curated the exhibition which includes some of the artist’s earlier works through to more recent paintings. More than seventy Banksy artworks will be on display which will make it one of his largest formal gallery shows. I thought I would have been tired of Banksy by now, but I still find him interesting. I like that he has one finger up at the system while most other artists are very obedient and drone-like little creatures. Some urban artists will even tell you to be obedient and OBEY your masters. Solar Roads

solar roads

What do roads have to do with art? Not much and I don’t really care as this is such a FREAKIN’ good idea!! In fact, I fear that it is so great of an idea that it will never get off the ground. You see, I think the matrix that we live in depends on us having a set number of problems to keep the majority of us on our knees. This awesome idea solves too many problems and improves the lives of too many people in one fell swoop to be allowed. Imagine solar roadways combined with electric cars! The oil and electricity industries wouldn’t stand for it. So, go support solar freakin’ roadways at Indiegogo and at least give this idea a chance… now!!!Continue Reading

Satanic Baphomet Monument for Oklahoma City

baphomet monument in oklahoma

As far as public monuments go, this is probably no more ridiculous than any other. If we can make ridiculous monuments to more mainstream religions, to political figures, or to glorify senseless wars, than why not to a stupid goat? The New York City-based religious organization the Satanic Temple have been working on a sculpture of Baphomet with plans to have it erected at the Oklahoma state Capitol. In 2012 a monument with the ten commandments was erected so the satan-loving group figured it would be a good idea to have the goat man there too.Continue Reading

Pepper Spray Pig Awarded $38,000

fat pepper spraying pig

Remember pepper spray pig John Pike who casually sprayed peaceful protestors of the occupy movement like they were cockroaches? He has been awarded $38,000 in worker’s compensation. The poor dear has been suffering from depression and anxiety. It’s tough doing the dirty work of a psychopathic regime that only answers to banks and big business.. boo hoo.Continue Reading

Abby Martin and Peter Joseph of the Zeitgeist Movement

abby martin of breaking the set rt

I don’t support ANY movement or organization anywhere, but I do love troublemakers that poke sticks at hornets’ nests. Abby Martin of RT (Breaking the Set) recently spoke with the Zeitgeist movement’s founder Peter Joseph about crazy artists and how we’re a danger to the system that relies on submissive robot people. They’re my words not his, but basically that’s what he says ;-) Continue Reading

Richard Renaldi’s Touching Strangers

richard renaldi touching strangers

I really like the idea behind these photographs by Richard Renaldi. He places complete strangers together, usually from very different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. His first intentions may have been to show a tenderness and unity between the differences, but we’re a very divided animal.Continue Reading

Conspiracy Theory Art

outsider artist

I love troublemakers. I used to think all artists were troublemakers by nature but the more artists I met, the more I saw that we’re conformist sellouts just like those in finance, politics and big business. I understand we all have bills to pay but I would like to see more artists questioning the system that rules over us. Continue Reading

Banksy – One Nation Under CCTV

“One Nation Under CCTV” is painted on a wall in central London, which seems to be the CCTV camera capital of the world. It shows a young boy up a ladder painting the words, with a security guard and a dog on the ground watching him. To the right of the painting is an actual CCTV camera.Continue Reading

Banksy at Auction

I have spent hours browsing through auction catalogues online today. I spend hours every month going through them, like I’m a billionaire art collector looking for prey, yet I have never spent more than $1,000 on a painting!

It’s almost like an addiction, but it’s free, it doesn’t affect my health, and I love doing it, so I can’t complain. Impressionists, modern art, contemporary art, and Australian art are my favorite art auctions to browse, but I have also found myself looking at anything from fine wine through to exclusive real estate auctions (I’m a dreamer).Continue Reading
