Banksy Retrospective – Unauthorized of Course

banksy unauthorised retrospective

Banksy The Unauthorised Retrospective in London opens today at Sotheby’s S|2 gallery. Steve Lazarides, Banksy’s agent up until 2008 has curated the exhibition which includes some of the artist’s earlier works through to more recent paintings. More than seventy Banksy artworks will be on display which will make it one of his largest formal gallery shows. I thought I would have been tired of Banksy by now, but I still find him interesting. I like that he has one finger up at the system while most other artists are very obedient and drone-like little creatures. Some urban artists will even tell you to be obedient and OBEY your masters.

Here’s some Banksy paintings from the exhibition in London..

About Dion

Australian artist and observer of things.. all kinds of things. I like a wide variety of art, from the weird and wonderful to the bold and beautiful.. and everything in between.

  1. Hi, Dion

Have you seen Banksy’s film of his residency in New York?

    Well worth a look .

  2. Hey Ian
No I haven’t seen it yet. I’ll have to check it out.

I’m guessing he must have an army of people working for him! He’s quite the marketing and production machine.

  3. Really like the UFO painting.Seeing a UFO today would be freaky but seeing one in the time peiord that this painting appears to be set in would really have been a mind bender.
