Australian Artist Richard Larter Dies

australian artist larter died

London born Australian artist Richard Larter died on Friday at the age of 85. The highly celebrated artist has works in most major museums throughout the country. His work was pop inspired, pointillist, and even abstract, but he was probably most well known for his female nudes, some of which are graphically erotic. Many of his nudes were inspired by his wife Pat Larter who passed away in 1996. Continue Reading

Hairy Vagina Censored

female nude painting censored

A tattooed, pipe smoking nude female flashing her manicured muff has been censored in London.. shock horror! The skeptic in me says “nothing like a bit of censorship to get the word out, for free” but the old conservative man in me says “tone down the come-hither look and nobody would have a problem with it” (just so we’re clear, I’m not old or conservative, I don’t sit in any boxes). People are trying to make it about the pubic hair or the strength exuded by the woman or whatever, but lets be honest, it’s about the come-screw-me look being shoved in front of kids.Continue Reading

Ron Mueck in Paris

ron mueck super realist sculpture

The Ron Mueck exhibition at the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain in Paris, France has been extended until October 27. I’m still yet to see any of the hyper-realist sculptor’s work and would love to use this exhibition as an excuse to go and have a coffee and people-watch in Paris, but the bank thinks my mortgage is more important! Damn my shackles. Continue Reading

Just browsing some of the art projects looking to get funded at Kickstarter. For those that don’t know, Kickstarter allows creatives to set up a page to accept funds to complete a project. The project creator offers all kinds of incentives for backers which can include anything from live concerts to hugs. If the funding goal is reached before the deadline, the funds are released to the artist and the project can be completed, otherwise the funds are returned to the supporters. It’s an all or nothing kind of thing.Continue Reading
