Proposed Jeff Koons Train Monstrosity

A giant Jeff Koons puppy might be cute and bring smiles to the faces of thousands of people, but a giant train hanging from a crane probably won’t do much for people.. other than confuse them and make them think that all art sucks.

If realized, the 161 foot tall hanging train would be located at the entrance of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, just like his giant Puppy graces the entrance of the Bilbao Guggenheim Museum.Continue Reading

Jeff Koons Egg

Jeff Koons will be showing twenty new sculptures and sixteen paintings at the Gagosian gallery in London. The new works are meant to celebrate things like birthdays and holidays.

Contemporary Art Auctions

Sotheby’s mention in a recent article that contemporary art sales are reaching the heights previously only reserved for impressionist and modern paintings. Recently departed and living artists are now frequently reaching prices above $10 million at auction.
In the recent May sales by the big three auction houses (Christie’s, Sotheby’s and Phillips) there was a total of $432,080,560 worth of contemporary art sold. That’s $432 million! I wouldn’t know how to count that high!Continue Reading
