Top 200 20th Century Artists?

The Times and Saatchi gallery have compiled 1,461,523 votes from the public to come up with a list of the 200 top artists of the 20th Century. It’s a method that has flaws as some artists will be missing and other artists will get more attention than they really deserve, but any list compiled by anyone is flawed as lists are an art rather than a science. They’re not meant to be taken too seriously.

Sydney Photos and Heavy Art Books

Here’s a few holiday pics from my recent Sydney trip where I went to see PJ Harvey at the Sydney Opera House. I also saw a few exhibitions, but nothing that really dropped my jaw. My most exciting art moment was buying three art books (two Anselm Kiefer books and one Brett Whiteley book). The books were so big and heavy that I almost lost my arms while dragging them back to the hotel, but they were worth the struggle.. even if they did almost kill me.Continue Reading

Anselm Kiefer Work to be Removed

In Connecticut, a collector of the German artist Anselm Kiefer has been ordered to remove an outdoor sculpture by the artist.

The 2002 work called “Narrow Are the Vessels” is 80 foot long, 6 tonnes in weight, and consists of 17 pieces of concrete.Continue Reading
