Art Books and Art Blog

Just so you know, I’m not dead, lost, imprisoned, or in a mental institute. I just needed a break and lots of ME time. Those that know me think I already have too much ME time, but I don’t think you can ever have enough of it ;-)

A blog is a greedy beast that is never satisfied and I just decided to stop feeding her for a few days, which turned into a few weeks. I guess I was angry at Art News Blog for making me feel responsible to her, but we have made up and resolved our issues.Continue Reading

Death of the Postcard (India & South America)

A friend of a good friend has recently finished a travel documentary and a book to go with it called The Death of the Postcard. It’s an experimental travel documentary exploring India and South America, directed by Adrian Barber.

It’s probably more travel than art, but my friend says its “arty” enough to be posted on an art blog, so I’ll trust him ;-) Continue Reading

Travel Photos

Posting has been a little light lately as I have been doing some travel. I’m in a place called Byron Bay, which I went to a couple of years ago.

Here’s a few holiday snaps..

Sydney Hotel Night Photos

I was just playing with the night view function on my little digital camera and realized that I shouldn’t drink coffee and attempt night pictures. I was leaning up against the window and even tried to stop breathing while I clicked but I was still shaking (click pictures for larger views)..Continue Reading

Missing in Inaction

Sorry about the lack of posts lately. I would like to say that I have been busy in the studio or working on something really big and exciting, but I have just had a lazy week. The busiest I got was when I drove into Newcastle on Tuesday (about 20 minutes drive) and stared at the ocean for a while (see pic).

There’s something about the ocean that seems to recharge my batteries. Particularly when there is a storm happening; when it makes you feel small and insignificant, but it also seems to share its power with you. I don’t think I could ever live much more than half an hour away from the water.Continue Reading

Hunter Valley Winery and Nelson Bay Photos

It’s good to get away from everyday life once in a while, even if it’s just for a couple days and not too far away. There’s not much art news in this post, but I felt like posting some photos.

At the end of last week I went on my own mini wine tour in the Hunter Valley, which is less than 45 minutes drive from where I am now. The Hunter Valley is best known for its Shiraz and Semillon wines. I then went to a place called Nelson Bay, which is also about 45 minutes from where I live, but close to beaches and the ocean.Continue Reading

Lost in Byron Bay + Photos

Sorry about the lack of updates recently. I went looking for a new place to live and couldn’t get the laptop to connect to the Internet. The plan was to enjoy myself during the day, get lots of photos, and do some work online at night.

Having no Internet connection put a stop to the “work” part of the trip, but I still enjoyed myself during the day and took some photos. I didn’t find a new place to live though.Continue Reading
