The paparazzi are not really photographers, they’re not really people either, they’re more annoying mosquitoes than anything else. But people keep lapping up their voyeuristic wares and the paparazzi continue to put food on their tables. So they’re just giving us what we want and you can’t blame them for wanting to make a living. A guilty pleasure I admit to is when they capture the rich and powerful ruling elite of the world in compromising situations. Like the queen of England with her pants down, reading a magazine on the toilet, taking a crap.
These paparazzi photographs are from an upcoming exhibition at the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt gallery in Germany called Paparazzi: Photographers, Stars and Artists!
Alison Jackson – Queen on the Loo 2003
This one’s a classic paparrazi photo. At the very least it shows that the old lizard queen of England is probably human, although I still have my doubts!
Alison Jackson – Bush with Rubik’s Cube 2005
Another beauty by paparazzi photographer Alison Jackson. I would bet money on it that George W. Bush did NOT work out how to solve the Rubik’s cube puzzle. Go back to painting dogs Georgie boy.
Bruno Mouron – Kate Moss lors de la Fashion Week, Paris, 1992
The Paparazzi exhibition at the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt gallery starts on the 27th of June and continues through to the 12th of October. Around 600 photographs look at the phenomenon that is paparazzi photography. Subjects include everyone from Jackie Kennedy Onassis and Lady Di through to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. Find out more at the Schirn gallery website here.
