I sometimes wonder why artists bother when I look at nature. We have nothing on her awesomeness! All we do is splash about in the bath while nature roars with all the might of the ocean (hat tip to Salvador!). The taxonomist Arthur Anker does a great job of capturing some of the smaller, more beautiful and interesting parts of nature with his photographs of bugs, frogs, crabs, and other creepy crawlies.
Here’s some of his amazing work from his Flickr page here.
He has so many more amazing nature photographs online here. Go check them out!
Ps.. here’s that Salvador Dali quote that I stole from above
When I paint, the sea roars. The others splash about in the bath.
And another quote while we’re at it..
An artist must possess Nature. He must identify himself with her rhythm, by efforts that will prepare the mastery which will later enable him to express himself in his own language.
One more from Vinnie..
It is not the language of painters but the language of nature which one should listen to, the feeling for the things themselves, for reality, is more important than the feeling for pictures.
